Oak Ridge, Tennessee – Twelve High Point youth rowers will team up with eleven Greensboro rowers to represent the Triad United Rowing Association this weekend at USRowing’s Southeast Regional Rowing Championships.
The Southeast Youth Championships event offers opportunities for crews within the region to qualify for the USRowing Youth National Championships
High Point rower Charlotte Curri will team up with Greensboro captain Kate Messick to open racing in the time trial for the women’s youth lightweight double sculls. Charlotte and Kate will also join Natalie Earnhardt and Alexa Robb on Sunday in the final of the women’s U17 quad sculls, an event the club won in 2018.
Next up for High Point on Saturday morning, Matthew Hronich and Isaac Gates will race the men’s double sculls event. Matthew and Isaac will also team up with Aydin Hall and Sarvesh Venkittu in the U17 quadsculls later in afternoon racing. The oarsome foursome won the U17 quad event at the recent Dogwood Championships and expectations are high for the crew.
Junior Ognovich, Lindsay York, and Kinkead Crotts will team with Greensboro’s Alexa Robb in the women’s quad sculls time trial. Ognovich won the regional championships in 2017 in the pair with Maddie Mullins. This is the first time the club will represent in the women’s open quad event.
In afternoon racing, High Point’s U15 rowers Elizabeth Richards, AnaLucia Albino, and Claire Lytle will join forces with Greensboro U15 rowers Eleah Stewart, Aubrey Bews, Ellie Anderson, Victoria Albright, Catherine Lawrence and Isabella Gregorio to race in the U17 youth eights event as a prelude to their U15 final on Sunday.
To conclude Sunday racing, Junior Ognovich and Lindsay York will team with Grace Denenny and Kate Messick in the final of the straight fours race.
