Boat Race Winner Kate Horvat to Give Keynote Speech at 2019 Celebration of Rowing Banquet

Cambridge University Boat Race winner Kate Horvat will be the guest speaker at this year’s Celebration of Rowing banquet.

The 6th annual Celebration of Rowing banquet, hosted by the Triad United Rowing Association will take place at 6pm on Saturday, November 23, at Sedgefield Country Club.

“Kate Horvat has enjoyed a rich rowing career among some of the most historic institutions of our sport,” says banquet Chair Jackie King. “Kate descends from a renowned family of rowers in Philadelphia, where she rowed on the Schuylkill River as a high school rower. She then rowed at Yale University before being recruited to the University of Cambridge in England as a graduate student where she was a member of the 2019 winning Boat Race crew.

“We always grateful to have a guest speaker who has made an impact on the international stage and Kate shows our youth rowers just how rewarding a strong focus on both their sport and their academics can be. We are so honored to have Kate joining us to speak on this occasion.”

The legendary men and women’s two-boat races between Oxford and Cambridge Universities draw around 250,000 people each year to the banks of the River Thames, and millions of people watch it on television and live streams.
