Gene Kininmonth

The Board of Directors of High Point Rowing Club is currently served by two individuals. 

Gene Kininmonth serves as program director for High Point Rowing Club. He is a former Australian national team oarsman and has over 20 years of coaching experience in the sport of rowing. In addition to serving as head coach at several prestigious universities such as UCLA and the University of Southern California, Mr. Kininmonth has coached several Olympic oarsmen and six U23 World Champions. Most recently he guided first year rower, Katie Ognovich, onto the United Stated junior national team where she won a gold medal at the CanAmMex Games Regatta last summer and then finished 7th at the World Indoor Rowing Championships in February.

Mr. Kininmonth retired from collegiate coaching in 2008 after leading the University of Southern California to the final of the Grand Challenge Cup against Canada at England’s Henley Royal Regatta.

Mr. Kininmonth has a Bachelors degree in Economics from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, and an MBA (Finance) from George Washington University.

Kye Strance

Kye Strance is President of iQ media, the firm which is leading the transformation from traditional media monitoring services to media intelligence platforms.

Mr. Strance has created award-winning software and built a presence in the speaking circuit as an expert in digital public relations. Mr. Strance has spent the last 15 years helping professional communicators make the difficult transition from PR as an art to a metrics-based science.

A former oarsman and rowing coach, Mr. Strance served as head coach of the men’s varsity crew at George Washington University and later represented Thompson Boat Club at the 2000 Olympic Trials for double sculls.

Mr. Strance earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from George Mason University.
